As a business immigration lawyer, I have particular expertise in assisting large national and multinational companies navigate the complex world of Canadian immigration law. I provide strategic immigration advice to companies seeking to recruit and retain foreign skilled and semi-skilled personnel. I advise large oil and gas service companies in developing strategic plans for sourcing large volumes of foreign nationals to meet the demands of large scale projects.
While attending law school I worked as an Immigration officer for Citizenship and Immigration Canada on the Alberta/Montana border. While completing my final year of law school I worked as a pro bono student to the Canada Border Services Agency Hearings Officers representing the minister before the Immigration Appeal Division in Calgary, Alberta. As a result of my prior experience as an immigration officer, I have been able to enhance the services I offer to my cross-border and overseas clients. Since that time, I have continued to work hard fostering positive relationships with the various immigration related government departments and am working hard to establish our law firm as the firm of choice for any foreign national or corporation seeking to relocate employees to Western Canada.
I started my legal career with a large national law firm in Calgary where I initiated the business immigration practice at the firm. I then worked at a regional law firm balancing my business immigration practice with a general solicitor practice. Immediately prior to joining Spectrum HR Law, I was the managing lawyer of an immigration boutique firm with offices in Lethbridge and Calgary, Alberta.
